Tim from Thee Infidels is the one who had the bad luck to answer a lot of questions from me…This was done in October 2014 Please tell me a little bit history of the group? -Well, I think it´s quite similar to every other band you interviewed so far. Bla bla bla we´ve all been muscians before. Bla bla bla played in different bands. Bla Bla Bla met each other and found Thee Infidels. That was in may 2010. We had a replacement on lead guitar in 2014. That´s pretty much it.
Please tell me a little about every member in the group right now, age, family, work, interests and something bad about everyone? -Ok, so there is Eric, our bass player. 25 years old. He´s a petrol attendant at the local space centre and he´s in a bigamous gay relationship with Roger Rabbit and a killer tomato from outa space named Gunther. Then we have our drummer Freddy, 29. He´s a jobbing elf in Santas little wonderland in the local mall at christmas time. The rest of the year he spends on sniffing glue in basements and dyeing his bodyhair. Our guitarist Joe (24) is a muslim-jewish mormon. We fondly call him Kitty because he´s got the biggest „Hello Kitty“ memorabilia collection on the planet. And then there´s me. My name is Tim (27) and I´m an underware fashion model for Victorias Piglet. Of course I am set for life with that but my granny said „Tim, invest in punkrock!“ So I did.
Thee Infidels...what does it mean and why two e?? -Well, we all are practicing atheists. So, our name means, that we dont believe in any kind of God/dess (except beer. We adore her.) The 2nd „e“ means „We´re stupid Germans.“
Your influences goes way back in time, am I right? I Think that Citzien Fish meets NOFX? -I think Leftover Crack and Choking Victim are undeniable in our sound. But we also listen to way more unknown bands. Check out Luvdump, the Infested, Atrocity Solution, the Stupid Stupid Henchmen for example.
What´s the best thing with playing live? It must be a sweaty experience when you play? -For me the best thing about playing live is spending time with my best friends, getting drunk, watching other bands, meeting new people, visiting countries/cities we´d never seen without playing there. The show itselfs is just another fun part in the whole big thing.
And where is best to play? -Every country we´ve been to was a bit different but we wont dare to say where its best to play. It always depends on the promoters. Good promotion = Good show.
How is it to play this sort of music in England? -I think there´s a way bigger scene in England than in Germany. Most of our UK shows had a really nice audience.
How would you describe your music in three words? -I only need one: Flitzekroppel
What does punk mean to you, is it only a word or is it a lifestyle? -It´s a just a word describing thousands of lifestyles. Punkrock is what it means to you. For me it means too many single things to name.
How do you see on downloading, mp3 and that stuff? -All our music is online for free download.
What do you know about Sweden? -Ikea, moose, Köttbullar
Have you heard any good bands from Sweden? -Rebuke! If you don´t know them, go check em out! Millencolin. Raised Fist. I bet there are some other swedish bands I like but I don´t know they´re from Sweden.
Your lyrics, who does them and what influences you? Only in english? -Well, I wrote most of the lyrics. Some me and Eric wrote together. So far all our songs were in english, but maybe we gonna do one in german in the future.
Is there any subject that you never will write anything about? -I can never promise. I write about what´s playing on my mind.
Do you think that music(lyrics and so on) can change anyones life, I mean people who listens to music? -I don´t hope so. Everybody should think for themselves. Hopefully people don´t take our shit too serious
Is there any new material on its way? -There is! We are writing new songs for a new full length currently. But we gonna take as much time as it needs. A baby needs it´s time to grow.
Please tell me a funny thing which have happened during your career and under some gig? -Oh dude, there were too many. And things wouldn´t be funny if you didn´t see them. But trust me. We always have loads of fun on tour.
How does your audience look like? Which people do you miss on your concerts? -There are way less girls then guys. This should answer both you questions.
Is it boring with interviews? Which is the most stupid question you ever have got?? -It´s the opposite of boring but It ain´t one of my favourite pastimes.
Do you understand that reviewers always compare bands to other bands? Is that disturbing when you try to something own? -In our life we always need to compare to understand. If it’s just a first description I´m ok with it.
Futureplans for the band? -Step 1: Writing new album. Step 2: Recording new album. Step 3: Releasing new album Step 4: Engrossing world domination
For yourself? -Same as above
Wisdomword? -Fun sucks.
Something to add? -Yeah, a little more Whiskey to my Coke please.
